I was just wondering what you would say to someone that thinks that church is just all brainwashing. After thinking about it for a bit, I see why they would think that, since there are many unanswered things about Christianity such as "Why doesn't God just smite satan" or something else that i don't remember at the moment.

Since God exists outside time, many questions of why doesn't God do this "now" don't apply. It's already now. He's already done it from his perspective.
ReplyDeleteNext, anyone that tells you that has been "brainwashed" but the other ways around. We believe something as irrationally as they do. Why do they think Christianity is brainwashing? Most of those people haven't spend a significant time exploring it on their own.
The real question is the question of the heart. If you tell him about your relationship with God and how it feels and how it's real then they begin to see it's not about knowing (they think the Bible is a textbook with rules) and they begin to have their heart opened up to a loving relationship that they would want a piece of.
It's often not about answering the questions they ask, it's the question in their heart. It's one of the reasons Jesus rarely answers questions directly.
